What do you consider your most memorable accomplishment of your career?

So many opportunities have molded me into the person I am today, it’s hard to think of just one moment.  The first would be completing my color apprenticeship at Vidal Sassoon. A foundation that I am truly proud of and extremely thankful for.  More recent moments would be becoming a Wella Top stylist, becoming a Wella master color expert  and placing in Trend Vision the last two years.

As the Bellus Academy’s Director of Color you must train the trainer. How do you keep your educators excited about continuing to learn?

I am a believer of leading by example.  I am passionate about continued education and I am always striving to better myself personally.  It helps to build a momentum in the team and creates a culture of wanting to inspire one another.

Beautiful cutting edge color is what you are known for. What Color technique would you die without?

I would die without a strong foundation of color knowledge and the classic techniques.  With tints, highlights and slices all things are possible.  The creative opportunities are endless with combinations of these techniques.

You have studied with the best of them. What words of advice have you taken to heart and with you throughout your career? And what was the worst…

I was once told that you are only as good as the people your surround yourself with. This is true in all areas of life especially in the industry.

I can’t think of anything that I consider the worst advice (maybe I just blocked it out of my mind)

You wear many hats in the hair world. What do you find to be most rewarding about your career?

I’ve enjoyed so many different phases in my life and career but having the opportunity on a daily basis to work with students from all different walks of life and see them graduate school, (sometimes overcoming obstacles that I could never even imagine) fulfilling their dreams.  It makes me so truly happy and inspires me everyday – at times it’s hard, frustrating, and  exhausting but the outcome out ways any of the struggles.  It’s an unexplainable gift that motivates me!

Being a Wella Top Stylist keeps you in the now with trends current and future. How do you describe what’s next in hair color trends?

Wella is releasing a product that is going to revolutionize the way we color hair.  Giving us colorists the ability to create multi dimensional color without the use of a SINGLE foil and having no bleeding! (It blows mind!)  Hair color trends change from season to season but I for see the minimal use of foils taking over!

We love the blissful pics the #HairHusband and you post. What are your secrets for maintaining balance with both of your passions?

Balance is something that is always a work in progress. I’m a workaholic and I am passionate about what I do, a combination that can be hard to manage at times.  Having a partnership where we are each others best friend, biggest supporter and biggest cheerleader is the foundation of a strong personal and professional balance.

Why is Beauty Changes Lives Come2Gether important to you?

I am and always have been passionate about education, especially continued education.  Beauty Changes Lives foundation raises the perception of the beauty industry as a premier career giving scholarships to not only individuals entering the beauty industry but to those of us who have been in the industry for years with advanced education scholarships to Vidal Sassoon Academies.  Not to mention I get to work with artists that I have been inspired by for so many years all in the name of an amazing charity! It doesn’t get much better than that!
