We love Hair Nerds of all walks of life so whether you spend your days behind the chair, educating, shooting for NAHA or on set for a television show… We are interested in your professional beauty experience. What we find so lovely about this industry is that even though we are all so different our common thread is our passion for HAIR.
We had special Nerd Correspondent, John McCormick, hit the lights of Hollywood glam with us at the Creative Arts Daytime Emmys held on June 14th at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in LA.
We had the opportunity to do an interview with 3 time Emmy nominee (and past winner!) hairstylist Antwon Jackson of, “The Wendy Williams Show” and his story is absolutely unbelievable. The passion he exudes is electric.
The ballroom at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown LA was buzzing while nominees anxiously waited to hear the night’s winners! While everyone else was interested in Best Director, etc., we held our breath for the Hair and Makeup Emmy’s to be announced.
The Emmy Winning hairstylists from “The Bold and the Beautiful” – Audrey Soto, Head Stylist, Michele Arvizo, Romaine Markus-Myers and Adriana Lucio.
These ladies were very frank about their work behind the scenes. Their advice to young stylists interested in working on a show was to know your sets and build your speed. When asked how long they have with each actor they answered 30 minutes, but then laughed and lamented it was probably closer to 10-15 minutes.
George Guzman, past Emmy winner and Head of Hairstyling from ” The Young and the Restless”(and sometimes John’s boss), had us cracking up on the red carpet. George keeps us laughing on twitter, also. @GeorgeGuzman
Speaking of the multi-talented Y&R crew… We also had the opportunity to speak with the winners in the Outstanding Achievement in Makeup for a Drama Series category, head make-up artist Patti Denney and artists Marlene Mason, Ralph Wilcox, Kathy Jones, Robert Bolger and Laura Schaffer Holmes about their work on The Young and the Restless. (video to come!)
After our evening of video stalking (coming soon), we ended at Canter’s Deli in Hollywood recapping the night’s event’s over reubens.
