2025 Plan of Hair Nerd Action

We somehow made it through 2024, and now it’s time to dive into one of our favorite annual rituals: planning education and events for the year. At the start of every year, we like to sit down and figure out our “must-do” activities that will help us stay inspired, keep our skills sharp, and connect with our industry community. The easiest way for us to pick and choose is to break things down into 3 categories: education, inspiration and stalking. Here’s what we have lined up for 2025:

Education

Education is at the core of what we do as hair professionals. Staying ahead of trends, mastering new techniques, and refining our skills are key to growth. Here’s what we’re prioritizing this year:

1. Local Distributor Classes
   Do not sleep on these classes! There is a weird, unwarranted stigma that distributor education is lame.. but distributors have access to brands’ top artists and they are always super affordable. Whether it’s hands-on workshops or product knowledge sessions, these classes are practical and easily accessible.

2. Regional Hair Shows
   Whether it is one ABS, IBS, Premiere or any of the rest… these shows offer a mix of education, inspiration, and shopping opportunities. It’s a chance to see live demonstrations and network with fellow professionals. Plus, we have entire guides on how to maximize your education at these shows.

3. Independent Educational Events
   We’re keeping an eye on independent educators who bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table. These events often provide a unique perspective and an intimate learning experience. Some of our vetted favorites are Sassoon Academy/Online, Hairbrained’s digital education HB Live + HB Sessions (these are soooo good!) and PonyEducation in-person and on their app.

Inspiration

Staying inspired is just as important as technical education. The following events are our go-to sources for artistic fuel:

1. NAHA (North American Hairstyling Awards)
   NAHA is the pinnacle of creative inspiration. From bold styles to jaw-dropping photo collections, it’s an annual reminder of what’s possible in our craft.

2. Alternative Hair Show
   This iconic event showcases avant-garde hairstyling at its best. It’s a feast for the eyes and a chance to see artistry pushed to the extreme. Wanna check in out in person? Come on our 2025 London Hairventure!

3. Hairventure
   Hairventure events combine education and exploration, creating a dynamic environment to recharge and get inspired. They are literally life changing plus we get to hang together for a week!

Stalker Nation

Keeping tabs on the movers and shakers in our industry is a must. This year, we’re stalking (in the best way possible!) at these events:

1. Influencer Classes
   If you are mildly to moderately obsessed with an artist, attending on of their classes is the easiest way to gain inner sanctum access.

2. Left Brain Group
   Known for their cutting-edge classes and deep dives into creative processes, Left Brain Group events are perfect for those who want to think outside the box. Their events are a great place to see your favorite artists. Come hang with us at Bayou St Blonde in New Orleans!

3. Hairbrained Awards
   Celebrating craftsmanship and artistry, the Hairbrained Awards spotlight the best in our industry. They are also the crème de le crème spot for hardcore hair nerds to corner their hair heroes and demand to be best friends. You can grab your tickets here.
