Tatiana Rivadeneira - Hairbrained Awards

Tatiana's last-minute decision to enter the Hairbrained Awards, driven by a blend of inspiration and a dash of spontaneity, embodies the spirit of creativity and daring that the Awards seek to celebrate. Opting for a concept that mirrors the day-to-day magic happening behind the chair, she showcased the transformative power of a haircut, from the initial client consultation to the final, stunning reveal. This creative journey not only highlights the intimate relationship between stylist and client but also sets the stage for the Hairbrained Awards—a gathering where such moments of beauty innovation are brought into the spotlight. Join us in New York on March 3rd, to celebrate the innovation and artistry that define our industry, in an event where each cut and color is a testament to the craft.

Could you guide us through the journey of bringing your Hairbrained Awards video to life, from initial concept to final cut? What does your process look like?

Believe it or not, I decided last minute to enter. I was a little intimidated because I've seen amazing work but then I decided why not! It doesn't hurt to try. I decided to go with the everyday life behind the chair, a client coming in, wanting change so I went with that concept. With that idea in mind, I wanted to make the transition playful during the video. I also wanted to show the process it takes for the client to get a big change.

What has been the most challenging aspect of creating your nominated work, and how did you overcome it?

Time! I had one week to get it done so I was short of time. I had to find a model quick! Someone who wanted a big change but also had availability so I had time to edit and submit! I was quick with creating a post & brought her in the next day to get it all done!

How do you stay motivated and continue to evolve as a hairdresser and artist in the industry?

My biggest motivation is being an educator, I find that sharing my knowledge with other hairstylist keeps me inspired! I am not a gatekeeper I will share anything I learn, I believe that I was given so many opportunities to get to where I am and the best way to give back to the world is by sharing what I know. We all learn from eachother! By sharing knowledge we all learn & grow and that's amazing.

How do you envision platforms like Hairbrained shaping the evolution and trends within professional beauty in the future?

Education and exposure! What we learn and what we share is what makes trends a thing. By plowing the space for people to have that exposure is going to allow others to see and learn from others in the industry!

What message or advice would you like to share with your peers in the hairdressing community, especially those aspiring to be nominated for future Hairbrained Awards?

Just do it. Sometimes we ourselves are the reason we don't succeed . We stop ourselves from doing something or saying something because we think of the what ifs but we have to just do it! The worst that can happen is you learn how to grow or are inspired by others of what to do different next time. It's an industry of knowledge so allow yourself to grow & learn.

How can people find out more about you?
