Jada Jenkins Designs Hair for Hanifa Brand

Jada Jenkins, Sam Villa Ambassador, Mizani Artist and L'amour de Rose Salon Owner @jadajenk. insco shot a collection for Hanifa, a global luxury fashion brand seen in Vogue, Essence, The Cut, In Style, Elle and The New York Times.

"The creative director wanted long wavy hair and the designer is really big on lived-in hair. So, I wanted to create something that would have you wondering if you were looking at the model's natural texture type or if the hair was manipulated for the look," explains Jenkins.

One of the models had a unit/wig, one had extension clip-ins and the other had sewn in pieces. Jenkins choose the different methods based on the timing, texture types, length of hair needed and access to the units and wefts - 26", 28" and 30".

"I applied Mizani Foam Wrap on all the extensions to help build the natural texture. Once that was dry, I went in with my Sam Villa Pro Results Double-Waver to continue that lived-in look using diagonal parting for a softer look. At the roots and ends, I used a Sam Villa Signature Series Sleekr Professional Straightening Iron to make sure hair looked as natural as possible. Sleek but not too sleek," she adds.

For touchups, Jenkins used a Sam Villa Pro Results Cordless Flat Iron, the compact size, cordless action and 45 minutes of charge time makes it perfect for that last minute finessing on set.
