Could you guide us through the journey of bringing your Hairbrained Awards video to life, from initial concept to final cut?

I have a passion for hair, constantly seeking new challenges that will elevate. my skills. The intersection of art and hair, the interplay between texture, style, and design fascinates me, and braids serve as a stunning canvas to express these elements. Often when I'm inspired by this creative energy, I turn on my camera. This time was no different. I positioned myself in front of my camera and began the intricate process of braiding, twisting, and experimenting to discover visually pleasing transitions and composition. As an artist at heart the post-production aspect also captivates me; once satisfied with the outcome, I dropped my video into an editing app and immersed myself in the editing process, infusing an extra layer of enjoyment into the entire creative journey.

Could you share a memorable anecdote or behind-the-scenes story from the production of your nominated work that encapsulates the spirit of creativity and collaboration?

On a Sunday afternoon, my wife and I were exploring a charming mountain town! The streets are lined with local artisan shops full of inspiration! We stumbled upon this little shop full of Pottery Glass and Macramé a few of my favorite things. As I looked over at my wife before she even uttered a word I knew what she was thinking! With pure delight and full of enthusiasm she says "Baby you can do that with hair it would be so badass" The challenge was set, and it sparked my imagination. The concept lingered and the entire ride home was consumed by the excitement of translating the intricate beauty of Macrame into the world of hairstyling, a unique fusion of art and texture waiting for me! Little did I know, that moment would become the genesis of my entry, all born from the simple joy reflected in my wife's widening eyes

What do you think sets apart exceptional hairstyling or artistic expression in today's competitive landscape?

In my opinion, exceptional hairstyling embodies a combination of dedication, patience, and continuous learning. By consistently practicing our craft and allowing ourselves the freedom to make mistakes, explore, and innovate, we unlock our true creative potential. It's about embracing a mindset of lifelong learning, always seeking to refine our skills and discover new techniques. Ultimately, this commitment to growth and authenticity that sets exceptional hairstylists apart.

Considering the evolving trends and preferences in the hair industry, how do you stay informed and inspired to continually innovate and adapt your craft?

I was taught to master my craft by considering and understanding the four stages of learning, beginning with unconscious incompetence and working hard until it becomes conscious competence. By simply saying to myself “What if” will usually ignite a new learning journey for me. In addition to this structured approach, I find inspiration from various sources. I follow and learn from my teammates, and industry icons, and even draw inspiration from architecture. Moreover, I'm constantly amazed by the creativity and talent of everyday stylists and barbers worldwide. By staying connected to this diverse range of influences, I ensure that my skills and creativity are continually evolving and expanding.
