Could you share a memorable moment or highlight from your Hairbrained Awards career that has stuck in your mind over the years?
Of course! Although there have been several, perhaps the one that most marked me was receiving the award as overall winner among all the categories, but not for the very fact of winning! It was precisely that year that I had traveled with my daughter and we also coincided with several hairdresser friends that I had met years before at the same Hairbrained. I was very excited.
¿Podría compartir algún momento memorable o destacado de su trayectoria en los Hairbrained Awards que se le haya quedado grabado en la memoria a lo largo de los años?
¡Claro! Aunque ha habido varios, quizás el que más me marcó fue recibir el premio como vencedor absoluto entre todas las categorías. ¡Pero no por el hecho mismo de ganar! Es que precisamente ese año había viajado junto a mi hija y además coincidimos con varios amigos peluqueros que había conocido años antes en el mismo Hairbrained. Me hizo muchísima ilusión.
The Hairbrained community is known for its creativity and innovation, how do you think being part of this community has helped you push the boundaries of your craft?
Hairbrained's work in continuing education and online format is impressive and very useful. I wish this kind of global content, designed not only for the Hairbrained community itself, but available to all professionals in the industry, had existed 40 years ago: it would have been a shortcut to learning and a source of inspiration.
La comunidad Hairbrained es conocida por su creatividad e innovación. ¿Cómo cree que formar parte de esta comunidad le ha ayudado a superar los límites de su oficio?
La labor en formación continua y en formato online de Hairbrained es impresionante y de gran utilidad. Ojalá este tipo de contenido global, pensado no solo para la propia comunidad Hairbrained, sino disponible para todos los profesionales del sector, hubiera existido hace 40 años: hubiera supuesto un atajo en el aprendizaje y una fuente de inspiración.
Can you describe your creative process when submitting a project to the Hairbrained Awards? What inspires your unique concepts and designs?
A creative process is born from the desire to break out of pre-established patterns, to do something new, to give shape to an inspiration, to try new formats and hairstyles. My inspiration comes from observing everyday life with different eyes: the streets, the immediate environment, my own experiences and the experiences of other colleagues often provide me with the trigger that sets off a creative process. In fact, it happens that I never know where it will come from until it has already arrived, nor how or when it will end, because, in a way, it has a life of its own and evolves over time. I, a perfectionist at heart and also easily driven by motivation, sometimes I have to force the end.
¿Puede describir su proceso creativo a la hora de presentar un proyecto a los Hairbrained Awards? ¿Qué inspira sus conceptos y diseños únicos?
Un proceso creativo nace de las ganas de salir de los esquemas preestablecidos, de hacer algo nuevo, de dar forma a una inspiración, de probar nuevos formatos y peinados. Mi inspiración viene de observar la cotidianidad con otros ojos: las calles, el entorno inmediato, las vivencias propias y las experiencias de otros compañeros me ofrecen a menudo ese detonante que desencadena un proceso creativo. De hecho, ocurre que nunca sé de dónde llegará hasta que ya ha llegado, y tampoco ni cómo ni cuándo terminará, pues, en cierta manera, tiene vida propia y va evolucionando con el tiempo. Yo, que soy de base perfeccionista y que también me dejo llevar fácilmente por la motivación, en ocasiones he de forzar el final.
How do you balance your creative interests and professional growth with the demands of the industry and your personal life?
I think this is perhaps the most difficult point in my career.... And the fact is that, no matter how active you are day has 24 hours and the week has 7 days: it doesn't taste like much when you have many open fronts. open fronts. In my case, I have three children with whom I wanted to have breakfast, lunch and dinner until they were independent enough. dinner until they were independent enough, I work as CEO of the group that we are currently currently we already have a total of fifteen hairdressing salons and two beauty salons with a hundred employees, and and, to top it all off, I love to run at a high level in any modality and distance. And to all this I add a bit of a social life! I have sometimes been asked why I love ultra distance running, and my answer is that what really answer is that what I really like is to live an ultra life. And that requires little rest and a lot of organization.
¿Cómo compagina sus inquietudes creativas y su crecimiento profesional con las exigencias del sector y su vida personal?
Creo que este punto es quizás el más difícil de mi carrera... Y es que, por activo que sea uno, el día tiene 24 horas y la semana 7 días: sabe a poco cuando se tienen muchos frentes abiertos. En mi caso, tengo tres hijos con los que he querido desayunar, comer y cenar hasta que ya fueron bastante independientes, trabajo como CEO del grupo que actualmente ya formamos un total de quince peluquerías y dos salones de estética con un centenar de empleados, y, por si fuera poco, me encanta correr a alto nivel en cualquier modalidad y distancia. ¡Y a todo esto le sumo algo de vida social! A veces me han preguntado por qué me encanta correr en distancia ultra, y mi respuesta es que lo que en realidad me gusta es vivir una vida ultra. Y eso exige poco descanso y mucha organización.
Looking back on your career at the Hairbrained Awards, are there any tips or ideas you wish you had known about at the beginning of your career?
I wish I would have known about Hairbrained much earlier: when I knew about it, it had already been held for several editions. I've always thought it was a pity and at the same time I'm grateful that it wasn't even later.
Al recordar su trayectoria en los Hairbrained Awards, ¿hay algún consejo o idea que le hubiera gustado conocer al principio de su carrera?
Me hubiera gustado saber de la existencia de Hairbrained mucho antes: cuando lo conocí, llevaban ya varias ediciones celebradas. Siempre he pensado que fue una lástima y a la vez agradezco que no fuera aún más tarde.

As we carry out a good communication, it is easy to find us (both the company and me) through google. At Carol Bruguera we have a website for end audiences and another for professionals, as well as two Instagram lines and a Facebook account. Then I have my individual account, where I share something personal and @miacarolbruguera a little bit about some personal hairdressing curiosity. We also have Linkedin, Youtube, Pinterest.... but they are smaller accounts that we use more for internal work than for communication.
